How Sage Creek Botanicals Began: A Mother’s Search for Something Safer
I never planned to start a skincare brand. I was simply a mom searching for products I could trust. When my children were little, I became painfully aware of how many natural or gentle items were filled with ingredients I couldn’t pronounce. Every bottle I picked up left me more confused than comforted.
So I did what many mothers do when we want better for our babies. I started making everything myself.
Where It All Started
A late-night research rabbit hole led me to something I never expected. Old-fashioned, traditional skincare. Tallow, beeswax, fresh milk, herbs… things our great-grandmothers used without needing a chemistry degree.
I still laugh remembering the first time I put tallow on my skin. Back then, I felt like that mom. The “weird one” melting down beef fat while everyone else was buying sixty dollar creams that promised youthful immortality. Meanwhile I was in my kitchen whispering, “Please work,” while stirring a pot that smelled like Sunday dinner.
Fast-forward to today and suddenly it is trendy. Who knew?
Milking Cows and Growing Herbs Because Why Not Go All In
As my confidence grew, so did my curiosity. I began:
• Milking our own cows for the freshest milk soaps
• Growing organic herbs and teas in our garden
• Learning slow infusions to pull every drop of goodness from plants
• Experimenting, failing, trying again, and slowly creating skincare that actually worked
What started as improvisation became a passion and eventually a craft.
Ten Years of Learning and Making
Over more than a decade, I refined the products I once made only for my children.

• Herbal blends and infusions that soothe, restore, and protect
And then something beautiful happened.
The Candles Became Her Story
My eldest daughter started watching me work. Curious at first, then inspired. Eventually she began experimenting herself, melting beeswax and tallow, taking notes, tweaking wicks, testing scents, and refusing to stop until it was just right.
Today, every beeswax and tallow candle we sell is made by her.
They are warm, clean-burning, and honestly breathtaking.
She created something I never could have imagined, and I am so proud of her. Proud of her patience, her creativity, and the way she took our family’s passion and made it her own.
